Fictioneers Forthcoming

Here's the first group of creators featured in my forthcoming book "FABULOUS FICTIONEERS: A History of the Incredible" from PS next year. They are grouped alphabetically by last name and the blurbs that accompany the portraits are not all written yet. Each will have an essay by a noteworthy contributor written especially for this book. Stuart Gordon wrote on Ray Bradbury and Dennis Paoli  wrote on Stuart, to name but two. More info on the book as publication approaches.

SKELETON CREW Encore

Here is how the cover looks now- I adjusted the font so it doesn't come on so strong and make the thing look overly "busy"- also you can see how the front and back will look by themselves--- and the whole thing sans type. I wanted to create a whole "Skeleton Crew World" incorporating as many elements from the stories in the book as I could. We see Mrs Todd and her friend riding past the Milkman who is holding The Monkey, with Uncle Otto's Truck coming toward them and Nona hitch-hiking while twisted mice from The Jaunt float in space, the giant monster from The Mist walks by and we see bits and pieces of Gramma, The Raft, and so on.

SKELETON CREW by Stephen King

It was a great pleasure to produce over 50 pieces of art for the upcoming SKELETON CREW deluxe anniversary edition for the good folks at PS Publications in Meddie Olde Inkland! The book is due out in May of 2015- along ways off and yet... next thing you know... Time goes fast. (Hint, if you want to slow time down go to Comic-Con in San Diego and try to get from one of the main hall to the other. You will experience a distortion in time wherein what should take minutes takes hours- something unnatural is going on there, especially where the Star Wars people congregate!)
But I digress- Here's the mockup cover for the book- hope you like. Can you identify the various elements and link them with the stories in the book?

LAST REVELATION OF GLA'AKI second edition with New Cover!

I had the opportunity to do a new cover for the second edition of the great Ramsey Campbell's THE LAST REVELATION OF GLA'AKI. I was very happy for the chance- the first cover I did was done without my having been able to read the book- and although they seemed pleased, I didn't feel the image really represented the spirit of the story very well! It looks more like a Kaiju story than what it really is! The new one (bottom) is much more true to mood of the thing, at least I think so!
The book will be out very soon I believe, and it's a great story. I am proud to be associated with it, and with Ramsey--- and with the extraordinary Pete Crowther of PS!
(Our line of Lovecraft books is due to start coming out soon, more on those anon.)

BENEFIT for Stan and Sharon Sakai

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE & REPOST

Contact: Steven Wyatt

CAPS TO LAUNCH ART AUCTION FEATURING ORIGINAL WORKS BY MATT GROENING, JACK DAVIS, MIKE MIGNOLA J. SCOTT CAMPBELL, ADAM HUGHES AND HUNDREDS MORE TO BENEFIT FELLOW CARTOONIST STAN SAKAI AND FAMILY

On Thursday, March 6, 2014, Southern California's CAPS, the Comic Art Professional Society, will launch an ongoing series of eBay auctions of original comic art. Its goal is to raise funds for medical care for Sharon Sakai, the wife of respected cartoonist and longtime CAPS member Stan Sakai, creator of the samurai rabbit USAGI YOJIMBO. Sharon has been battling a debilitating brain tumor for some time; after an extended hospital stay and convalescence, she is currently at home, but her condition requires 24-hour care and medicine that costs more than the Sakai's insurance covers. 100% of the proceeds of these auctions will go directly to Stan and Sharon Sakai to help pay their ongoing medical expenses.

The CAPS auctions will be conducted through eBay.com beginning on Thursday, March 6, with a new set of auctions every following Thursday. Each auction, sold under the seller name of "CAPSauction", will be ten days in length with twenty to forty items in each set of auctions. The donations of original artwork and collectibles (including newly created art unique to this event, vintage comic book pages, comic strips, illustrations, animation art, limited edition statues, and IDW Artist's editions books) number over three hundred with new items arriving every day.

Contributors include:  Adam Hughes, Alex Maleev, Arthur Adams, Batton Lash, Eric Powell, Jan Duursema, Jerry Ordway, Jordi Bernet, Matt Groening, Michael Allred, Mike Mignola, Paul Gulacy, Sanjuliàn, Scott Shaw!, Jim Steranko, Tim Sale, William Stout, Bill Sienkiewicz, Cameron Stewart,  Dan Brereton, Daniel Parsons, Dave Gibbons, Dean Yeagle, Doug Sneyd, Dustin Nguyen, Bill Morrison, Tone Rodriguez, Sergio Aragonés, Fabio Moon, Francisco Francavilla, Gene Ha, Geof Darrow, Gilbert Hernandez, Jack Davis, James O'Barr, Kevin Eastman, Jeff Lemire, Jeff Smith, Kazu Kibuishi, Liam Sharp, Tom Richmond, Michael Jantze, Olivia, Oscar Martin, Paul Chadwick, Richard Corben, Tom Mandrake, Walter Simonson, Charles Vess, Dan Spiegle, J. Scott Campbell and many more.

Many of the pieces featuring Usagi Yojimbo will appear in a new oversized hardcover book from Dark Horse, THE SAKAI PROJECT: ARTISTS CELEBRATE THIRTY YEARS OF USAGI YOJIMBO, which will be released on July 23, 2014. All proceeds from this book will go to Stan and Sharon Sakai. Much of the custom Usagi Yojimbo art created for this book will also be sold as a part of CAPS' online auctions.

These fund-raising auctions will be promoted through ComicArtFans.com, and the CAPS - COMIC ART PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY Facebook page where you will be able to see updated information such as when certain pieces will be auctioned.

From PETE VON SHOLLY'S MORBID--- a Dark Horse book!

Great movie concept artistTim Flattery as Harry Hauser is awesome! Funny too. Backgrounds are mostly from Henry Galiano's wonderful Maxilla and Mandible store in NYC and the the outdoor shots are from (where else) Bronson Canyon and Bronson Cave, seen in COUNTLESS monster movies, westerns and tv shows- BatCave anyone? The jeep is a model. This is from SCORPAMANTULA (scorpion, mantis, tarantula) which appeared in my book MORBID from Dark Horse. I loved making these comics cause I got to work with friends like directing a movie whereas comic work is usually just you sitting there!
